Too expensive for me. Glad to see it out there though. 500 lbs. is pretty much what a similarly equipped jeep 4.0 I6 weighs.
You're preaching to the choir . My 2001 Cherokee with high output 4.0 has over 230k and runs beautifully. The only thing it has needed is routine maintenance and a radiator. Easy to work on and parts are quite cheap. It's no lightweight, but the jeeps it came in are not exactly hulking behemoths. I bet the new crate 2.8 Cummins will find its way into as many jeeps as anything else.Respectfully, the 4.0 engine is no light weight. A real 4.0 with accessories is just over 600 lbs. It is simply not a light weight engine. However, it is an incredibly ROBUST engine. My 1991 Comanche has just over 300K miles on it. In 2015, I took it on two different transcontinental trips totaling over 15K miles. Only issue I had was a starter problem that I knew about before both trips..
My B4V Passat has about 300K miles and I did a 9700 mile transcontinental trip in 2015 with Zero issues.
