I've done a search, and don't see any threads on this.

My '01 NB has has a pretty good oil drip. I dropped the belly pan this morning, sprayed on engine degreaser, hosed it off, drove around for awhile, and got it up on a friend's lift. Oil was dripping down the starter motor - which was odd. Looking on top of the engine, it appears that the engine case is very wet directly underneath the oil filter flange - where it is bolted to the case. The oil pressure switch and oil supply line to the turbo are dry. The oil cooler and dipstick are also dry.

If I'm not mistaken, it appears that the oil filter flange gasket has gone bad. Has anyone run into this before? It appears not searching past threads. Thanks, Ron.

Sorry, I'm editing my post I missed that you said the oil cooler looked dry. I wouldn't expect the flange gasket to leak, but I guess it's possible. If I were change the flange gasket I would change the oil cooler seals too.
