i've recently had my timing belt replaced on my 2000 jetta. after replacment, i now hear a "whooshing" sound upon high rpms and acceleration... i brought it back and they said it was normal because they used a new style timing belt (2003?) that was stiffer and lasted twice as long.. so until it broke in it would make this noise.

DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?

i recently had the oil changed at a different dealer and then the noise dissapeared and their mechanics said they have never heard of such a thing (the wooshing sound)

has anyone else had this problem? or are they jerking me around?

Were there large clouds of black smoke following you when you heard the wooshing? I know if the B4's have a loose or split or leak in the intercooler system they smoke like crazy and make little power. Is that also true for the a4's?
