Hatfield, MA to Portland, OR last year for PDX-Fest 10.
Day 1: Left work at 3:30pm and stopped in Mentor, OH ~11pm. 547 miles.
Day 2: Mentor to Omaha, NE. 820 miles. Left Ohio ~7:30am. Made Omaha in about 11.5 hours, but with the time zone change it was shortly after 6pm.
Day 3: Omaha to Laramie, WY. 610 miles and about 9 hours. Stopped in Ft. Collins, CO for an early dinner at 5pm local.
Day 4: Laramie to Reno, NV: 900 miles. Stopped in Winnemuca for supper. Made it into Reno around 9pm local. Stayed at the Sands Hotel & Casino in a double-king room for $29.99. Put $20 in a quarter slot machine and won $120. So $20 bought me breakfast, filled the tank, paid for the hotel room, and left me with cash for lunch.
Day 5: Reno to San Fransisco. 220 miles, made one stop for lunch at In & Out Burger somewhere in the middle. Made it in about 3 hours. Wandered around SF for a while but didn't want to pay SF hotel prices so I continued north to Healdsburg, CA, about an hour north. Had dinner and some kick@ss beer at Bear Republic Brewing. (Walked to & from the brewpub from my motel.)
Day 6: Checked out the Sonoma area, did a winery tour, then headed north to Fortuna. Made a detour on Ca-Rt 20 from Willits to Fort Bragg. 220 miles, took my time and made a a few stops so it took probably 10 hours from start to finish.
Day 7: Fortuna to Portland, OR. 430 miles. Traffic was good the whole way, one stop for lunch made it in just over 7 days.
Stayed in Portland until Sunday then drove to Seattle. 175 miles, 3 hours.
Spent 2 days in Seattle.
Day 1 of the return: Portland to Mountain Home, ID. 530 miles, 8 hours.
Day 2R: Mt Home to Cody, WY via Jackson Hole. 500 miles. Probably 12 hours since I stopped for dinner in Jackson and stopped a few times in Yellowstone.
Day 3R: Cody to Chamberlin, SD. 645 with a side trip to Mount Rushmore. 12 hours with a stop for dinner and an hour at Mt. Rushmore. Crossed a time zone while crossing the Missouri River into Chamberlain.
Day 4R: Chamberlain to Joliet, Ill. 714 and 12 hours.
Day 5R: Joliet to Hatfield, MA. 930 miles and about 15 hours. It was a long day that wiped me out. I can't imagine driving 18 hours in a day.
All told I did just under 7,000 miles.
