Bought a new 14 TDI on black Friday and just past 3000 miles on it. All I can say is it starts excelent in the cold -34F not counting windchill and it started right up, plus the heater is awsome!!

But I honestly hate driving it The Navigation radio on my 06 is bigger, has a temp gauge and a normal fuel gauge. The MFD display on the 06 is so much nicer, the numbers are bigger so they are easier to read plus I like the red color 0n the 06 I get out side temp, Odometer reading +trip. On the 14 the cruise control is on the turnsignel lever, stupid stupid stupid!!!

Did I mention when you pop the hood on the 14 there is no shock to hold it open, I guess it is cheaper to put a 80's style hood rod/brace thing:confused:

I just can't get past how the car was cheapened, I mean seriousle how much money did they save but putting in the cheaper MFD?? But the worst is the fuel MPG's I filled both my Jetta's my wife drove 1 one day and then the other the next, for 3 trips which is 360 miles. The 14 got 33 the 06 got 41

The car is going to get traded, I want to see what the 15 Jetta TDI looks like, I like the passat the only thing I don't like on it is the mechanical clock in the dash, why don't they get that ugly clock out of there?

I really think the A5 Jetta overall is a well built car

Completely agree with the lack of stock gauges in the MK6 Jettas. I will be picking up a ScanGuage II very soon.

I can understand the gauge differences, but you had to have known going into it that the '14 was gonna get worse mileage...

I was shocked (literally, lack there-of) to discover that my wife's '12 Tiguan had a hood rod like my '84 Escort used to have... Even my '01 S4 and '09 JSW have hood shock supports!

For every 40 miles I drive about 1 mile in city traffic. I was hopeing for the high end of the 30 city 42 highway rating on this car.

I have an 06 and the wife has a 13, while I like my 06 her car gets MUCH better mileage than mine does (06 is 5 spd and 13 is 6 spd) I travel from central TX to NOLA for work a lot and take her car from time to time. I easily get 50 mpg in her car where 40 mpg is my BEST in the 06. There is more room in the 13 and a smoother ride in my opinion. I will be doing some work to my 06 soon (tb, sm flywheel and clutch, colt cam, water pump, and new fifth gear to lower my rpms) hopefully this will help my mileage and reliability.

Check out green diesel engineering for a tune. That alone got me 5mpg on my daily commute. I used to be at 44mpg, and now I get 49 mpg every tank :)

I am very satisfied with my 06. I have yet to tire of driving it. The RC tune made it the car that should have come from the factory.
