You know, it's ironic--Rudolf Diesel demonstrated one of his first engines using peanut oil as fuel and predicted vegetable oils would become important as fuels. After his untimely death, petroleum refiners began marketing some of the oils that were previously byproducts of gasoline and kerosene production as "diesel fuel." 90 years later the use of vegetable oils in diesel engines is "experimental."
