04 Jetta TDI Wagon Stalling issue

Here's the typical scenario that brings up the problem. I drive the car for around an hour then park it to go shop or to an appt., then resume driving after 10 mins. to 1/2 hour parked. Within a couple minutes of restarting the engine dies and won't start for 5-10 minutes. When it does start after stalling it runs fine for the rest of the trip.

Normally the car starts right up when cold.

Can anyone suggest troubleshooting directions? I'm a fairly new owner (1 1/2 years) without a VAG-COM yet, but do have a Benteley Guide and am some light mechanic experience. The car has 74,000 mi.

Thanks, Jason

Check the glow plug light during the failure. If it does not illuminate (lamp test after turning the ignition from off->on), investigate relay 109.

Also fuel and coolant temp sensors.

In tank fuel pump is probably dead. Could have a weak tankem pump too.
