What is the procedure for flushing the coolant on an A4? I ran a search but nothing turns up.

Do I just disconnect the radiator hose and drain it? Can I use a garden hose flushing kit?

If you have less than 100k miles on your coolant, don't bother. The VW coolant almost lasts forever and also doesn't degrade the cooling system hoses like other coolants do.

If you must do a flush, do not use a water hose. You want pure water in your system (distilled). I'd do nothing more than a simple drain and refill and repeat again.

This will only drain about 75% of the coolant. A great deal will remain in the heater core, and some in little pockets in the engine. The engine also wll affect water flow out of the engine because of the thermostat. If you want a full flush, it's gonna be a little work.

When you replace your timingbelt and water pump simply replace the old G-12 coolant with new G-12 coolant using a 70% G-12 and 30% De-ionized water ratio.

Until then don't mess with it.

Just drain it from the radiator into a clean container and reuse it.
