Big thanks to Torquetronics. Got the car remapped today and found a vac pump problem. £620 later for a map and then a tandem pump from TPS the car is going REALLY well.

Don't know, they don't have a 4wd Dyno.

I wasn't pulling right until the new VAC pump was fitted so a rr run would have been pointless.

I have an AJM with 045 130 073 T injectors, can I run the 038 130 073 AL from the ASZ/ARL on my stock ECU without problems?

It'd work, but I suspect you'd suffer from overfuelling as the ECU won't know that it's running bigger injectors. I'd get it tuned/remapped at the same time.

Also, some of you may find this interesting / useful. MJ = Model jahre (model year) and 530er, 550er, etc is the capacity of the injectors.

PD550 = DSLA150P1043 Nozzles 5x 0,195mm
PD520 = DSLA150P1042 Nozzles 5x 0,190mm

So slightly smaller !
Instead of looking at holes why not compare flow?

R783 (263% over stock)
PowerPlus 1043 (193% over stock)
ULSD800 (141% over stock)
BLLA 1287+ (I don't have this flow data with me right now but its in this range)
DSLA 150P 1042 (140% over stock)
DSLA 150P 1043 (125% over stock)
DSLA 150P 1362 (Baseline flow point, 100hp PD engine)

DBW, are those over stock, or of stock, as in 25% over stock, 40% over stock, etc.?
I'm kind of guessing that R783's are not 263% over stock, but more like 163% over stock.

Reasoning: PD100 is, 100hp. most users of R783 nozzles are running 240-250hp., thats 140-150% over stock hp.

Correct stock being = to 0.

Then the R783 is 163% over stock flow nozzles.

Sorry about the confusion...its been a long day...

But I could drive like that?
Just like the VE injectors the PD and to a certain extent the CRI injector can also be adjusted for flow and balance.

The PD has a smaller range of adjustment (4 steps increase, and about 4 steps decrease).

It is possible to adjust the R783 race nozzles to work with a stock ECU, turbo and boost.

Of course when owners go this large they generally have a tune that can manage the full capability of the injector.

For the most part we only set a "Standard Flow" so that everyone is tuning off the same characteristic.

If a tuner wants more control in terms of less fuel or more fuel or more range of timing control we can adjust the injector to accommodate that request.

Can we sticky this thread? I've searched countless times looking for PD injector information ans got nothing until I found this. And this thread answered everything.

My mechanic has a OBD tool and says he can change injection stuff, that should be okay till I get a remap, right?

Does anyone know where 038130073BB or 038130079PX fit into this table?
They are from a North American 2.0L 8V ~PD134 used in the Passat B5.5 with BHW engine code. I think these are the largest avaliable here in North America as stock.

I'm looking for a set of PD injectors (ideally stocks) that can go up to 240HP without struggling.

The BB/PX like the PD150 use the small plunger, and are not the units you want to use for high performance builds.

It's akin to going from an 11mm plunger to a 10mm plunger.

The best units are the larger plunger 100hp PD units.

I'm also interested where is all the info coming from exactly? I've spoken to a diesel specialist and he said he has never seen injectors capacity measured in er whatever it is, just flow values...

cheers

Plunger Size

I was thinking that the nozzle flow is a function of the plunger diameter. DBW mentioned the PD100 plunger is larger than some others. Is this all PD 100's like BEW and BRM in North America. If they start with 42.5CC's is that at the same operating pressure as all nozzles regardless of plunger, or do larger plunger nozzles run at more pressure?
