Any gotchas I should be aware of on this?

You are correct, it shouldn't be too difficult. The most important thing to remain aware of is that the airbag is as explosive device. Make sure you disconnect the battery and drain any residual power (turn on the lights or the ignition briefly after disconnecting the battery). Then make sure you are grounded when you remove the airbag. A static electric spark could set off the airbag. Then set the airbag on the passenger seat (or somewhere else safe) with the base down (air bag on top). If it were to go ff, you don't want the metal base propelled through the air as a projectile.

Airbags rarely go off accidentally, but being careful is never a bad idea.

Have Fun!
