absolutely... you and thousands of others like you. The 1/4ton -1/2ton market has a huge void and whoever steps up and fills it is going to make a KILLIN' in NA
Build a diesel minivan (not a rebadged Chrysler) that gets over 30 mpg and costs less than $30,000 and they would sell every one they could make.regulator said:I think VW should fully embrace diesel as their niche and offer a diesel option in each of the various automotive categories.

The T5 is kind of expensive (Fully loaded T5 is more expensive than fully loaded Phaeton!), and too large to be a minivan.eric_x said:
I've driven for over 1000 miles the VW Eurovan 8 seater. 25mpg during that time. It was great. Three thumbs up. Even when full with kids, soaking wet camping gear and dogs.owr084 said:Build a diesel minivan (not a rebadged Chrysler) that gets over 30 mpg and costs less than $30,000 and they would sell every one they could make.
I shouldn't have read that... now I'm ticked. I would sooo like to see this truck in the US... but I must stress that I want to see it in the configuration in the article, diesel, manual, four-door. Not some potentially disappointing US spec gasoline only, automatic only, or some such tragedy. I live in the wrong country for what I like in a vehicle.tdi4mpg said:Here's a first drive review of the Amarok that we did in Argentina.

That's exactly my problem with the Mahindra as well - no manual transmission means I'm not buying. Otherwise I would be VERY interested in it. What a dumb decision. I guess they think there aren't any Americans left that can drive a stick. During the last year or two I've heard rumors back and forth over whether they will bring a manual or not... sometimes I heard yes, sometimes no. Maybe after the initial introduction they'll change their mind and offer the option. Or maybe VW will change their mind and offer the Amarok here... and hopefully be wiser than Mahindra and bring it with a manual. Lack of choices is sooo annoying!!mittzlepick said:my mahindra tractor serves me well. their trucks look like a old toy that crossbred with a chevy luv, but if I were buying I'd buy it with the stick (not offered) . What so hard about offering a stick to go with a truck here ffs it drives me nut autos never go the long haul especially in a truck that get beat on and worked.
I agree with you, but at least Mahindra is offering a six-speed AT, made by Aisin I think, which shows that they are trying to impress prospective buyers with a serious transmission. No crappy four-speed AT like some entry-level minivans I can think of. Presumably the Mahindra transmission is matched to the torque level of the turbodiesel engine, with at least some margin of safety.domboy said:That's exactly my problem with the Mahindra as well - no manual transmission means I'm not buying.
