Injection timing and economy

Hey economy nuts, here is a chart from Bosch outlining injection timing as it relates to consumption and the cooresponding effects on emmisions. Keep in mind that this was not done specifically for the TDI, but will be in the ballpark. Also, the injection timing reported on the various OBDII systems will be the value at the magic #3 injector, so you must subtract propagation delay from the chart.(generally 1.25 ms) These charts were compiled at 1600 rpm. I would surmise that somewhere around 6-8 BTDC would be optimum with a duration of 26 or 27 degrees.

Also be aware that the charts were produced for a prechamber injection engine. It will probably require a slightly more advanced injection compared to a TDI.
