Malone stage 1 tune

I got my stage 1 with dynamic egr installed this weekend. I was really happy with it. The extra 20hp is quite impressive with no other mods. It works very well with .658 5th too. It's really nice cruising at 2050 rpm at 70. Now to figure what clutch to use when I decide to start upping HP more. Any suggestions/thoughts? Thanks Mark!

Please post changes to FE over time, if any.

Will probably go down but will check. Grin already bigger so who cares if my FE decreases. Some of my past B4 mods were much more radical and FE only lowered in proportion to my right foot.

Just so you know I have a stage 2 custom with VNT 17 and upgrade injectors and even when I drive the car fairly spirited I get the same mileage as stock. Give or take 25km to a tank really. As long as you keep your foot out of it you will probably gain a little because of the bump in low end power.

I did not lose any mpg's with the Malone stage 1.5 plus dynamic EGR.

Do you have any other mods? Mark told me I shouldn't use the 1.5 until I at least go with bigger nozzles.

The 1.5 is a stage 2 with a torque cap so that you don't slip your stock clutch.

PD's can go stage 1.5 as there in enough fuel on hand. VE's need an injector upgrade to go 1.5

No mods. Mark told me that a stage 2 for my Golf could possibly cause turbo creep; so I left well enough alone. Mine is an automatic.

JB05, how long have you had this tune? I'm considering having the 1.0 w/Dynamic EGR done next month on my '05 Jetta Wagon automatic.

If you have the BEW engine, why not consider the Stage 1.5 tune, instead of 1.0?

Because I live in CA and really don't want to worry about the chance of a problem with CARB. (Plus I don't want to shorten the life of the turbo. )

It will be two years this coming Thanksgiving.

I just got my tune done last week with a Malone 1. Couldn't be happier. Lots of roll on torque and much more driveable. Just put on the 5x100 to 5x120 adapters with 25mm thickness and getting a slight rub on the rear front fender wall. BMW wheels with 225/45/17's are great. Just ordered the ECS rear axle relocation kit to see if that will alleviate my rub.

I've noticed my fuel consumption becoming less and less. For the first 2 days it was heavy right foot to see what it would do. I was in the low 40's not it seems I'm on the high side.

Now shopping for the VNT17/22 and a Panzer Plate.
