Hi all, I've been away for a few years now a Mini driver.
Does anyone have experience with shipping a car from out west to Ontario?

Who did you use and what was the cost?

I have been given my dads rust free 2005 Toyota Camry with 170km on it.

I'm just trying to figure out if the costs involved make it worth while.

Or option two fly out one way and drive back.

$600 flight and 15 fill ups is my guess. Plus a few nights at hotel/motel.

You already mention one choice.
Another choice is a "Drive away" service which does exist in Van. Someone you do not know will drive your car back for a fee of some sort. Probably someone wanting to com e to Ontario. They are allotted a reasonable time frame to get it here.
Shipping by train is horribly expensive.

I just got a quote a few weeks ago for $2700 CAD to me near Sarnia or $2500 to the GTA from Vancouver. VW van and a runner.

Last year I elected to fly out and drive back another VW I bought. I took my Dad and my eldest son. No savings versus shipping but we made a trip of it.

There are two main players in the cross country car shipping business in Canada.

Livingston and Hansens - full disclosure, used to work for livingston a number of years back, but have no present afiliation with either.

https://www.lhf.com/ for Hansens

https://www.livingstonintl.com/services/vehicle-transportation-services/ for livingston

Livingston has their BC shiping point on Annacis island in Delta, and their GTA location in Vaughan. THey ship through CN

Hansens also has a terminal on Annacis, and ships into Scarborough through CP.

You can use either to ship entirely by truck, which is faster, but costs more.

Give me a shout if you have any questions - know the business pretty well.

Do not consider having someone else that you don't know or trust drive your car! Something happens and it will go on you insurance policy. Worst case, the driver gets into a collision with another vehicle while impaired and your insurance will not pay for anything. You'll be stuck with all the bills, including the other vehicle's damage.
