Notice I have a tear on the inner boot. I am about 1500 miles from home and don't see any trusted mechanics in the Palm Springs California area.

1 Anyone recommend a shop?
2. Anyone had any success with the boot that clamps over the joint without removing it? Have the tools at home to change but not when on holidays.

Thanks

Is the tear large enough that all the grease has been thrown out?

If the tear isn't bad and the grease isn't all gone I would probably fill with more grease the wrap the joint with the sticky saran type wrap as tight as I could and nurse it home from there. You might also get some zip ties to secure the saran wrap more tightly.

I've also used thin long strips of duct tape to secure the wrapping.

Since the inner joint doesn't move all that much the wrapping shouldn't come loose.
