Hi,

I've got a 1999 Jetta TDI MK4 with a 100k mile engine (replaced 4 years ago). I had a new clutch put in with the engine. Lately, I'm kind of dragging
going up hill. Is it time for a new clutch? I've gotten a lot more miles than
100k with past clutches driving the same terrain. Is there anything else I
should look at?

Thanks

Wadaya mean by dragging?

If your clutch is bad you'd be seeing RPM increase with no increase in speed especially on a hill in 4th or 5th like heading up the 5 from the SF valley.

If you can ever get into 5th on that stretch. ;)

Before finding a solution to your problem a good start is to clearly identify what it is and describe it here. Dragging uphill really doesn't tell us much, you have to be a little more specific.

Sounds like you may be experiencing limp mode or low power, fairly common. Bad or worn clutch exhibits more specific symptoms, like what KXLD posted.
