What are these cut wires?

While looking over the wiring harness on my '03 Jetta, I found this section that had apparently been cut. Nothing that it could/should have connected to is obvious. This is in the vertical plastic channel between the brake fluid reservoir and strut tower, just before the wiper well. Any idea why it's like this?

Well, if I had to take a shot in the dark.... Brake pressure sensor? Like the car might have had ESP but someone coded it out? But I think that sensor is only 3 wires and plugs into the bottom of the master cylinder.

Only other thing it could be is if someone did a manual trans swap and that's where they snipped the harness at.

My guess is old glow plug wiring abandoned when the harness was replaced.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. The wires look pretty thick, like they were meant to carry a lot of current, and there are four of them.

That is the glow plug harness, and notice you have a new one overlayed. This is normal. Probably not too many 2002-2003 ALHs left that have not have had this done by now.

I usually cover them with liquid electrical tape so they aren't as likely to worry somebody.
