From my new and cheap OBDII reader I get an engine misfire code. I erased it to put the engine light out but am worried it will come back again.

Anybody got ideas on what could cause this? Thanks.

The exact code is needed to start narrowing it down. The freeze frame data would be helpful in the investigation.

The light came on to tell you something and you need to listen to what your car is trying to tell you. To get the full story from it, someone needs to have talk with it using a real scanner, not just a code reader.

Took the car in today for the inlet air box/snow flap/ 02 sensor recall thinking it might have something to do with the engine light. They performed the recall and also diagnosed the engine light.

The following is what they wrote on that:

Engine Light On
Diagnose and advise check engine light on
Cause: Exhaust Flap Malfunction
Correction: Scanned vehicle, found p048c which is applicable to TSB: 26-15-07. Found exhaust flap movement restricted. Replaced exhaust flap, cleared dtc, nothing returns.
VC: WWO

So now engine light is out , it cost me nothing and I'm back to being happy with my car. That engine light was really bugging me.
