MIB1 to MIB2 upgrade compatibility question

As I am looking for an MIB2 headunit to upgrade the one (MIB1) in my 2015 GSW SE (w/ Fender audio), I see different part IDs popping up: 3Q0035878, 3Q0035844, 3Q0035844A etc (all listed as MIB2 w/o Navigation for 2016 and newer Golf/GTI trims). The stock part in my car is 5G0035844.

Are these parts interchangeable, i.e. can I use any of them for my upgrade? In particular are 3Q0035844 and 3Q0035844A interchangeable? I read somewhere that someone read somewhere (couldn't recall where) that these two units are practically the same, except one cannot install the FeC's on the 3Q0035844A version (which would make it useless to me, as I want to install AppConnect, for example).

Nobody knows, apparently. I'll stick with the 3Q0035844, just in case.

Probably should have just posted in the existing thread where everyone was already talking about the swap. No real need for a new one. Would be good to have the answer and question in there with all the other info.
