There are some pretty trick devices in use, and being developed, but from what i understand most of them would die a quick death with the US spec diesel. If you are using B100 or B50, is the reduction of the gunk enough to allow the use of those devices?

I would assume that it would, but i was curious if anyone had heard of any official testing going on.

BD has no sulfur, so using x% of it reduces the sulfur content of the blend by the same x%. Thus, for example, if some technology required 50 ppm max sulfur, and what you have available is 500 ppm sulfur, one would need to use a B90 blend, i.e. a lot of BD.

500 ppm is the federal maximum in the US, so a lot of BD would have to be used to make that close to ULSD.
