Easiest way to add a sub to RNS-510

In my Jetta, I do not have the Monsoon amp under the seat. Therefore all I have is the radio driving the 8 speakers. Very little boom boom. And what there is, is very bad.

I have been contemplating adding a conservative 10" sub in the trunk and keeping the ski pass through open.

What is the easiest way to send signal from the RNS-510 to the amp?

The single din MkIVs had an adapter that could plug into the back and give you two sets of RCA Preamps.

I haven't been able to find any such thing for my radio. Am I stuck using a LOC?

Easiest way I can think of is just to pull a high level signal from one of the front channels and use an amp with a built in cross over. Most already have one. It won't sound great, but it's the best you can do without using a signal processor and external amps for all the speakers.

I've been doing research here lately trying to accomplish the same thing. I don't have the RNS-510, and I also don't have the factory amp. Anyway there are some options I have found out about.

First, if you are buying an amp, try to get one with speaker level inputs, this allows you to add the amp without an adapter (which is also available). I have been using Crutchfield.com as one of my main research sites. Here is the URL for their speaker level input amps.

Here is some more information:

Here is the adapter if you already have an amp or want to use one without speaker level inputs.

I have the in dash cd changer with no preamp outputs. What I did was tap into the rear speaker wires behind the radio and put in a loc. The bass level can be controlled using the bass knob or fading the speakers to the front a little.

The bass is crossed out of the rear channels a lot more than the front ones, use the front for your signal. It'll sound much better.

Mine is tapped in the rear speakers and it sounds great. Aren't the crossovers located in the doors?

The factory head unit has individual channel and volume equalization. The bass going to the rear is adjusted down since the speakers can't play it back there, and the fronts have it adjusted close to flat because the woofers are mounted in the front doors.
