I saw a brand new Kia Optima with a peculiar CDI badge on it. I can't find any info on it online. Has anyone heard about a Kia diesel?

Looked at a 2011 Kia Optima this weekend as a replacement for the better half's Camry.

Great value compared to the new 4 cyl Camry. At $23K price point, Kia/Hyundai has so much more in the car. Leather seats, Blue Tooth, ASB and so much more. More horsepower, better mpg, more room, less weight.

My only question is am I going to wait 60 days for the hybrid to go on sale? Love that EPA 40 mpg rating on the highway. The 35/36 mpg around town is really great for all the driving around Anita does.

Yes, I will keep my B4V. But the Korean car has the VW Diesel beat for Anita's use. And it is thousands cheaper.

Any new car today is/should be good for 200K miles. And that may be more miles than I have left in ME.

well crap... that is entirely possible. I saw it from an angle. It looked like CDI from where I was... but, it's also possible, juuuuuuust maybe, that I might have a bit of bias toward wanting to believe it was. :D

edit: i looked it up... you are right it's gotta be GDI. My bad. It's weird that in the searches I did nothing that close came up.
Are you sure it was not GDI you saw? That is HMC's newer direct gasoline injected moniker.

There are just too many to list....
The GDI emblem is on many new HMC products, you have to look close. HMC does not even tag their diesels 'CDI', they are tagged 'CRDi' (see links below). The G looks a lot like a C if you are really blinded by wishful thinking, but trust me, they all have spark plugs in the USA.

And the turbo version is 'TGDI', again, not a diesel.
