Hi everyone,

This is the first forum I have joined for cars. I bought my TDI about two weeks ago and it is the best thing I have ever invested in. However I bought the car with a few KM's and would like to see what everyone thinks for maintenance and how to go about getting it fixed.

So I purchased the car with 190KM and the timing belt hasn't been changed yet.

VW dealership says that transmission fluid and timing belt and water pump need to be changed. Transmission fluid every 60k.

The price VW gave me for the timing belt kit change is 1100. I found the parts here: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,3267908,parttype,5759 for alot less.

Does anyone know why VW dealership charges so much for parts and labor?

Thanks for any information and for reading my post.

Regards,

Because the Service Dept subsidizes(sp?) the rest of the dealership... Its the main source of the revenue..

Welcome to the forums.

The timing belt interval is 120k miles (193km) so yes you are due to timing belt change.

DSG fluid should be changed every 60k km

Dealerships are usually on the expensive side and often their work is not the best quality.

I would suggest to take your car to a local TDi guru. You can check the mechanic review thread in the Ontario section.
