12/5/2000 - Ethyl Corp. (NYSE:EY - news) said on Monday it has notified customers it will raise prices by 15 percent in January for all motor oil additives, adding it has the capacity to meet needs for these products that are in
short supply.
This is the fourth increase in the past year in the price of additives that give passenger car and diesel engine motor oils special
characteristics, spokeswoman Lloyd Osgood said.
She cited the SEC's late October changes in disclosure rules for Ethyl's public announcement of the latest increase.
Ethyl's January increase follows a similar increase announced last month by the number one additive producer Lubrizol Corp. The public announcement of the move came in Lubrizol's 10Q report report with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Now is the time to stock up on motor oil now while it is still cheap
