I have heard some argue that M1 is group III. I'm convinced it's at least group IV.

'Round here we've been told Rotella T 5w40 is group III, D1/M1 TDT is group IV.

Bob, oils aren't straight Group IV or straight Group V. The high end oils are traditionally PAO/Ester blends.

Very useful DD: I've passed the reference on to a UK bike user who was unclear about wet clutch requirements! Which is off-topic but handy nevertheless. Ta.

Redline's website initially led me to believe that their oils are 100% ester, but I later asked Dave at Redline and he said they are a PAO/Ester mix but understandably wouldn't say in what proportion. The website has since been corrected and is less misleading now.
