I've gone through the troubleshooting for a MAF, and I'm pretty sure its bad.

Since TDIparts.com is out of stock, am I risking anything by putting a few hundred miles on the car with the MAF unplugged?

I'm figuring the mileage will drop, and might get above normal coke buildup.

I just put a couple hundred miles on my 01 Golf with the MAF unplugged. I figured th car was performing better, so what would it hurt.

I didn't replace the MAF, but rather cleaned it by letting it soak in denatured alcohol for about 30 minutes then drying it with compressed air. Seems to have nearly fixed the MAF. I do not notice the great difference in performance with vs without. We'll see how long this lasts.
