I have looked through thread after thread on this subject and their is almost too much information and so many options!
If someone could give me the simplest solution for my situation that would be great!
Im confident with the mechanical swap, that the easy bit as you all know!
Problem is finding the right wiring solution.
I have a 1.3 mk2 golf with dead engine and a complete 1998 mk4 golf with AGR (ALH) 90bhp engine.
What is the simplest way of wiring the AGR into the mk2?
How do I know if the AGR has Immo? is the only way of disabling it by remapping?
Im trying to minimize weight otherwise I would just fit the entire AGR harness :(
has anyone put together a wiring diagram for their system that I could look at?
If im just being total noob and missed a particular thread....

Thanks for any advice! really looking forward to this build...

Cool idea, I think the subframe from my car, seat cordoba on a 2000 plate or Mk3 ibiza might fit straight in to the Mk2 shell which will give you the engine mounts etc. I know the struts are possibly the same and the after market lower strut brace is the same for both cars. I'm sure when I got my new shocks they did the Mk2 gti, need to double check to be sure. We have an immo for our AGR in the ecu and clocks, some of the ecu's can take a straight map which you can load to get rid of the immo but some like mine need to be chipped first. The immo works between the ecu and the clocks. The AGR is basically the ALH except we have a wastegate garret turbo instead of the vnt as on the ALH.
This guy "Purple Tom" fitted an AHU into a corrado so could be worth asking him for info, he's based in the UK too.

Here's another one, an AHU into a Mk2 golf

Wiring I don't know much about but you might get a pin out for the ecu from one of these sites.

Found out last night that possibly my car is one of the very few early ones that didnt have immo! its got a Cobra alarm/immo fitted instead,
looking at the key I cant see anywhere they could fit the chip so im guessing its immo free :)
my plan is to use a mk3 golf/ibiza k frame and passat front brace, and a lot of welding and fabrication to get her in there, decided to go down same route as Quantum rally did, and use most of the mk4 harness to control the mk2 equipment, but only use the top half of the dashboard.
Ill post pics and make this a build thread in good time :)

It does have an immo or at least did, even the Mk3 had an immo, the chip is a tiny little glass looking thing inside where the key blade comes out. Yours might have been deleted already but it came with it.
