Looking back through the Nov. 2002 edition of Plane & Pilot I noticed an ad for a new engine. It's a four cylinder diesel engine that runs on jet fuel. The web address is www.smaengines.com . I've heard that either the government or the oil companies wanted to phase-out 100 octane, low-lead aviation fuel (avgas). It has a projected time between overhaul of 3000 hours and low fuel consumption for a 230 HP engine. Finding Jet-A shouldn't be a problem, but it makes me wonder if this fuel has enough lubricity for the injection pump. No word yet if any percentage of biodiesel is approved for it.
