Route 66

Last year, to celebrate my retirement, I hopped on Route 66 in downtown Chicago and traveled solo to Las Vegas where my wife flew in to meet me.

Only averaged 38MPG with my 2005 Jetta TDI, mostly because of my roof rack which generated quite a bit of wind resistance.

Otherwise, a joy to drive.

Very Nice. The wife and I have talked about doing that for years and maybe will one day. I've been through all the areas you visited and there is nothing more beautiful.
