I did a search previously about the production numbers in this thread and leicaman led me to passatworld.com member traubenberg who had all the info on production numbers of all 2000-2005 Passats.

Here is what he found for me....

2004 Sedan GL =1137 GLS = 7605 Total = 8742
2004 Wagon GL = 477 GLS = 3842 Total = 4319

Total 2004 TDI production =13061

2005 Sedan GL = 874 GLS = 5530 Total = 6404
2005 Wagon GL = 381 GLS = 3055 Total = 3436

Total 2005 TDI production = 9840

It is interesting that in leicaman's chart the production of 2004 is a lot lower then traubenberg found.

BTW - I have over 49,000 miles on my Wagon and just love this car!
Do you know if these are North American totals including Canada or just USA destined?

I bought my 04 in Nov. 2007 at 55k and now am just about to roll over 80k. I love driving this thing! I almost sold it last week to buy a new Audi, but decided that owning this car is better than making $500/mo payments on a new car (plus the Passat feels just as nice inside).

I had the DigiPD tuner box at one point but got rid of it because I realized even a faster TDI is still real slow, and I just need to accept that. I used to have fast cars but I've finally grown up and realized that I'd rather have a nice comfortable interior vs a fast car.

Problems since I bought it:
-alternator pulley bearing problem- $350
-1 glow plug failed so I replaced all four - $30ish for all four

So under $400 repairs in 25k miles, not bad. My old Pontiac would have eaten up over $3k in that period, as it had a taste for rebuilt transmissions.

Riles, VW changed the TB interval to 80K, if I were you I would consider having the Balance Shaft conversion done at the same time (see sticky @ top of B5 forum).

135K for me!

Did you have your glow plugs changed over to the new steelies? If so your ECM reflashed to accept the lower voltage of the new plugs?

I have 56k as of May 22, 2009 on mine and mine goes to Oilhammer in June for the BS, TB, WP, MM, etc., job.

Hey Ya'll,

I'm curious to know how many miles you have put on your B5.5. Part of the reason I bought mine is because I drive a lot of miles a year and I suspect many of you do the same. I bought my B5.5V 3 months ago with 94K and since then have added 10K so I stand at a paltry 104K miles. I plan on driving mine until the wheels fall off but I want to know where we are on proveing the longevity of these automobiles.

Since this is the picture/spec thread you could post a pic as well.

Anyone else have this curiosity?

BTW, I know all you B4 drivers are dying to gloat about the multiple thousands of miles on yours, but start your own thread please.

Diesel on,
I have a Euro spec so mine is slightly different than yours. I have a 2001 B5.5 AVF PD 130 1.9TDI 4 Motion. In 2005 the last service shows 175,000 km's. In 2006 the next service shows 106,000 km's. In German it notes that the odometer was changed some where in that time but doesn't note when. Any how it now reads 186,000 km's, so at a minimum it has 370,000 km's or 231,000 miles. It runs great and still averages about 35 mpg. I just towed a 3300 pound trailer 1200 miles with it over the Alps and back.

I have a 2004 Passat TDI with about 150k on it. My wife drives it because her office is 28 miles one way. It is a dark blue GLS model with the grey leather seats. So far we have enjoyed driving it, but it has not been the most economical car to own, having needed some major repairs.

I bought my '05 B5.5 on 3/22/08 with 40,090 miles on it. Sitting at 50,955 this morning. I work at home, so no commute to speak of. I haven't done much to it except the ventectomy.

Only took 2 longish trips to southwest Colorado last year, which is about an 800 mile r/t. Got 42 mpgs on those. Lots of mountain driving, so using a lot going up but next to nothing heading down them big hills.

My mileage was pretty good all last year, but my tires were worn out too. Was getting around 38 mpgs on an average tank fill-up. This year, on my winter tires, I was getting around 35 mpgs per tank.

Then, I made a big mistake. I bought 4 BF Goodrich g-force Super Sport A/S tires this April (on recommendation from Tire Rack, no less, but bought them at a local store that mounts for Tire Rack and gives me better pricing) and WOW did my mileage drop. I've only gotten around 28 mpgs on these. The tires really stick to the road, which I don't need so much here. They've got great road handling and reponse, and they're nice and quiet, and comfortable, but the rolling resistance must be slowing me down. Can't figure out what else it could be.

65K with all the $$$ spent on the stuff in these recent threads:eek: . This thing better go a long way now. And once I am tired of it it will be handed down to a deserving family member.

Now onto northern Wisconsin in July to rack up some miles on this baby...;)

Bought mine used with ~ 53k on the clock in Nov. of 2007.

Just rolled over 90k last week after parking it more or less for 3-5 mos. before replacing the balance shaft.

I drive about 110 miles +/- 10 every day. Beats the hell out of taking the equinox (21 combined MPG).

Just had ours done via a VW recall. Did not cost us a dime. They replaced glo plugs and reflashed the ECM.

It's still new! It should be for that mileage. Mine has 71K and I am seeing an alternator die.

Just turned over 145,000 Miles on my return trip from Oilhammer's shop, he deleted my auto-pucker driver's seat.
The lack of chain noise is so signifigant, you just don't know 'til it's gone.

Any B5.5 TDI members have any info onTiming belt replacement or Timing marks on the 2.0L TDI in an 05 Passat. I have 110K & had the belts replaced @ 98K. I lost a serpentine alt belt & damaged the Timing belt & possibly valves. I will know more when I get deeper into the job. thanks for any help!!

This would have been better if posted in "B5 Passat TDIs" area. Check this link for another link for help on timing belts.

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=260730

If you lost the serpentine belt, make sure you check the alternator pulley. The alt. pulley has a one-way clutch, if it locks up it can lead to damage of the tensioner and belt.

edit: Just realized it was also posted in the "B5 Passat TDIs" area...
