Going with vnt-17, DLC 1019 nozzles, PD150 intake, 11 pump and stage 4 malone tune.

2003 Jetta 1.9 ALH sedan 5 speed

Had a SB STAGE 2 on my wagon.. never slipped but it would chatter on take off from 1st...

G60/Vr6 set up?

Anything else?

probably looking at 160hp and easily 300ftlbs torque.

Drivability is paramount.

Thanks

I had the same set up except pp764 nozzles and 10mm pump. Southbend stage 2 endurance clutch. Drove flawless and never a slip.

And the light pedal for the torque it holds is awesome. When I got it together, I thought something was wrong because it was noticably lighter than the dmf it replaced.

South bend isn't cheap but dayum they're good clutches with top notch customer support and they stand behind their products. I have never regretted it and would/will probably buy the same clutch if I were building another TDI

Another vote for the SBC stage 2 Endurance.
Just back from 2750 miles with the teardrop camper,
it did chatter a little in first if I wasn't paying attention
to revs and pedal. Never a problem without the extra
1200#s.

I’m going for south bend 2 daily. I have a lower power goal but I’ve been reading vr6/g60 makes noise at idle and can slip with lower power mods. With all the upgraded equipment you mentioned I’d want to be sure about the clutch!

The only thing I didnt like was the offline chatter after awhile.. was that me or the clutch?
it was a SB endurance

I never had a problem with mine. It felt like stock to me but always grabbed like a champ. My throw out bearing would make some noise at idle but other than that never anything out of the ordinary. My golf I’ve been building I have the stage 5 southbend in it. One day when it’s done I’ll post how it is.

My stage 3 endurance does chatter in reverse, that's really about it. Otherwise it's smooth as butter.

Nice to know. So I know what to get for my future mk4 wagon.

I've Stage 2 Daily and Endurance in my Wagon (and a G60 setup in the past) and like the way the daily drives better than the Endurance. I'd get chatter sometimes with the endurance, but a hard launch usually cleaned it up and it would be OK for a while. Still, the Daily is smoother, and I don't think you'll have any issues with the setup you're planning.

I believe my SBC2 End was a bit glazed, I tend to be ez on the clutch.
Towing the camper it did chatter a bit, a bit more aggressive on the
throttle and no problem, it wasn't slipping.

Just did a round trip of ~600 miles, and I've noticed that it's definitely
a bit easier on takeoff in 1st. As IBW states, a bit of hard use
will smooth it out. I believe the friction disc is Kevlar in the End,
tough stuff!
