While I'm not in Ohio it's nice to see your taking work again. Do you plan on TB changes and that's it or are you open to other work? I'm sure Enquiring minds want to know.

Welcome back wrenching Aaron! I bet the kids have grown a bit in the 5 years() since you did the timing belt on my B4. I highly recommend Aaron, and I drove 6+ hours for him to do the work!

Completed an ALH TB this past weekend. ran into my first Flennor Tensioner.

this person heard a funny squeaking sound and stopped driving the car. They had removed the serpentine belt and verified noise was still there. Rented a Uhaul car trailer and brought the car out to me from the Wheeling area of Eastern Ohio.

Pop off the timing belt cover and this is what I see.. WHAT is that pile of goop? and where is the bearing seal cover..

After removal:
Front, This pulley is completely locked up.. does not rotate.

Back, spring failure...

looks likie 3 layers of melted material peeled off the belt before it finally seized up.

Belt was sliding against this area and still running in time.

Here are the two chunks of melted belt material that feel more like lego type plastic than rubbery belt that were found in the timing belt path..

All I know is I am super happy that the customer had the forethought to tow the car to me.. there is no way that the belt would have lasted the 2+ hour trip to my house on the freeway.

Keep a good ear out for odd noises folks.. I only install Litens Tensioners from well known TDIClub sources.

My customer brought me a complete kit from IDParts. Good stuff there.
