Heat still smells like antifreeze when new heater core installed??

I got a new heartcore done and the machnics told me that it will still smell for a bit when heat is on high, is that common??

Also, he said something like my glow plug heater needs replacing? Anyone know where i can get tips on that?

I wonder what a glow plug heater would be. Glow plugs glow because they get hot - they are their own heaters.

Did he scan your car for trouble codes? If so, what code did he get?

As far as the antifreeze, I haven't had to change the heater core, but it sounds to me like some spillage. Others with real knowledge should chime in.

I would guess the smell is from some spill that did not get totally cleaned up. See if it lessons in say a week.

The Glow plug heater is likely the radiator heater which is a glow plug as I understand it. I don't know about the OP's Jetta, but they are easy to get to on my NB.
