Do I have to clean the intake if I have removed the EGR?

I removed the EGR to take a look see if things needed to be cleaned. It's not bad - maybe 2 or 3 mm thick. Seeing it's a pita to remove the intake for a cleaning otherwise I would just do it and be done with it. Do I have to clean it now since I pulled the EGR off and have disturbed some of the build up around the joints or can I just put it back together and not worry about chunks getting sucked in?

Use a vacuum to suck up any loose chunks before you start the engine. If the intake truly only has 2 to 3 mm of buildup, it should be ok.
