When I bought my nos 2015 golf s 6m it had the original build sheet and mpg rating of 30 city 45 highway. But it also had another brand new smaller mpg sticker with the same 30 city 45 highway (36 combined) from the EPA. Dealer said after phase 1 modification they were required to re sticker the cars with the new fuel economy ratings. He pointed out and we laughed that old rateing was the same as new one (at least on my model). Just checked on EPA website and mpg has gone down a couple since fix. What gives ? why is it internet site different than my new sticker?

Why would you be shocked ? Or even surprised ? VW's cheat was huge, it took time, but now you're able to buy a new 2015 with some software alteration and you expected little to no change from before ?

Why would VW go thru the hassle to do all of this if it had no change to performance or MPG ?

Driving style will have more than a 3 mpg difference. Not worried.

He's not complaining about a slight decrease in MPG post fix. He's questioning why the sticker on his car is different than what the .gov website says. False advertising!

Well if the sticker (smaller) from EPA differs from EPA's website I would contact them. Unless members here work for EPA. Doesn't sound like it's VW or dealers fault.

The EPA lowered the MPG estimates on all new vehicles by about 2 MPG about a year ago. I noticed this when we were looking at gasser Passat's, and the 2016's were 2 MPG higher than the 2017's and I was told by the dealer they were required to lower the MPG rating on the stickers of the new 2017' vehicles, and this lower EPA estimate applied to all new vehicles, no matter the year. So the sticker on the pre-2017s may not match the EPA web site.

Seems like not having a lead foot and staying under 75mph should net you 50Mpg in the summer on "stage-1-fixed" EA288. When new DPF/NOx Cat assy is installed, they might get more aggressive with urea dosing, but that too should affect mpgs in any material way.

Subtract 4mpgs in the (colder) winter, our babies luv it really hot.

The question was: why is there a discrepancy between his new window sticker and what's listed on fueleconomy.gov? The information should match.

If you remember before the scandal most people got better MPGs than the sticker claimed. They knew that when the pollution set up was turned off the mileage would be higher in the highway. That is what tripped up the cover up. real world vs on the road performance

Thanks for all the replies.

I am not at all dissapointed in my real mpg. In all my gas automatic cars over the years I have alway been @ or below the city rating due to steep canyon driving. I expected 30 when I first purchased my 2010 tdi 6m. I was very happy when I averaged 38 mpg and the 2015 seems even better @ 40+ average. I'm sure 50 is easy on long highway drives.

Based on the information posted here I think a plausible explaination is that there is no difference in before and after fix mpg as reflected by my new updated sticker. Maybe being that the new vw's are 2015 model years they were not required to post the new 2016,2017 epa pencil whipped mpg revisions .
