I had a friend recently buy a 2003 TDI Jetta with the auto tranny. Not long after she got it, the MIL came on and she took it to the dealer. The dealer said the speed sensor was bad and they replaced it under warranty.

Now, Friday night, her MIL comes on and stayed on for the 1.5 hour ride home. She didn't drive the car until this morning. When she got in the car the MIL was off and stayed off for her drive to work (45 min).

Should she take the car back to the dealer and have them check it out again? Or, should she wait until the MIL comes on again?

Thanks,
Mikey and friend

Wait for the light, scan the car and get the DTC, then take it to the dealer.

Otherwise, they won't know what to do or look for and you certainly don't want them "hunting" for something that isn't broken.

Lito,

that would work, but I don't have my VAG-COM yet and she lives in Annapolis. She's not into the whole TDIClub thing. She leaves that up to me and lets me fill her in when big things happen.

I guess we will just play it by ear and see if it comes on again.

Thanks,

Mikey
