snow screen in '97 Passat?

snow screen in \'97 Passat?

I've been reading all this talk about snow screens in Golfs and Jettas. Without going to look, can anyone tell me if there will be one in my '97 Passat? I've never torn anything apart enough to notice. If there is one in there, it will have 75,000 miles of crap in it!

The only way it doesn't have one, is if someone has already removed it.

Removal of the snow screen is trivial on that car.
Unclip top of airbox
Disconnect electrical plug
Swing airbox out of the way far enough to get the air filter out
Remove the air filter
Remove the 2 screws which hold down the frame for the screen
Remove the screen together with its frame by pulling it straight up
Put the air filter back in
Put the airbox top back on
Plug in the electrical connector

That's it!
