Hello,

What would be the turbo to choose to get past the power of a chipped ATL setup? (VNT turbo generating circa 120 HP, 280 NM)
Of course we do not want to lose the lowe end torque.

Any ideas?
Please post...

The GTD1752VRK combined with 3-Cylinder PD TDI (BNM). Stock intake manifold. (no porting)

This setup was not pushed to the max but tuned for fuel consumption and little smoke.

The green lines show the stock setup.
The red lines are showing the previous 'chip' performance.
The blue lines show the GTD1752VRK setup's performance.

By: VVT motorsport. (160 HP, 361 NM)

This brings more low end torque, giving even more drivability.

Very nice turbo plot! It is any laggy in use the turbo or is it as good to drive as the original? Ball bearing cartridge ahure gets turbo on song pretty quickly... Very nice!

Hi Udo,
thats exactly what I want.

Can whe see pictures from the installed turbo?
Which PD-Elements you use?
Stock intercooler?
Exhaust Diameter?

Sorry, but I need more information...
You are the first one, but hopefully not the last..
Very nice!

The good thing is, vvt are only 200km away from me..

Turbo being installed:

`ARL` PD injectors were used. (stock PD injectors for ARL engine)
FMIC was installed. FMIC that I supplied (Twin Pass FMIC from DarkSide) did not fit so we got this:

Exhaust end is still stock, downpipe is same or slightly larger diameter if I am correct.

Inspiration was the 212 HP Lupo https://www.facebook.com/vanvughttuning/posts/1311191472248203

My (then still) chipped BNM versus the Lupo https://3lvrienden.nl/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=2691 that has more mods like the water-intercooler and larger injectors.
Please mention my name when visiting VVT.

Drivability:
I picked up the VW Fox last friday so the new 'feel' of the car has to sink in, still.
I do not really feel any problematic lag compared to the chipped car, but it might depend on what you are used to and/or how you drive the car.
Going from 0-100m KM/h feels quite fast when just using 3rd gear to reach 100 KM/h at ~ 4K rpm, but that is of course because I am used to the chipped Fox.
More driving is needed to evaluate the changes.

Sorry for the larger pics but imgur links for the smaller versions do not really work...

After one week of mostly calm, quiet driving I can say that fuel consumption remains largely unchanged.
Next week we'll drive a tiny bit quicker to see the impact on fuel consumption.

Why you aren`t making more power in higher revs, is the scaling of the dyno graphs correct?
Measure acceleration times 60-120 km/h on fastest gear

Vegetable oil might be a (small) factor.
Also the injectors for the lupo were even larger.

0-100 using 1-2-3rd gear feels(!) quite fast, but what am I used to...
60-120 needs 4th gear I guess.

200 KM/h on the GPS was exceeded in fairly flat terrain this morning.
Next will be 0-100 KM/h and 1/4 mile times.

A stainless steel exhaust of slightly larger diameter has an impact on the engine performance, things appear more `flexible`, e.g. engine complains later when slowing down in 6th gear through 100 KM/h.
Head gasket needs upgraded head bolts (ARL), etc.
After that we will do the other requested test(s).

For 130HP and good low end torque (1bar at 1700tpm on 1.2TDI) ...the Garrett GTD1244VZ is a very good turbo.

Because of a small crack in one of the pistons, pistons & rodbearings were replaced.

We need to run in the engine.
Engine sounds like new!

Dunno. The piston had a very small crack in it, hard to even see. There was no leak.
Other pistons were flawless.

The car had done close to 300K KM.

Some flexible elbows/joints were replaced due to leaks that had developed.
Tune was adjusted slightly.
170 HP. Same NM if I recall correctly.

Possibly on diesel instead of WVO the power might be a tad higher.
I requested a graph of the dyno pull.

Capable of 212 KM/h on the GPS on `flat` terrain.
Needs fresh shock absorbers and that diff...

Bilstein experts please get in touch: need Bilstein B8 version for 19-156699; i.e.: can 24-067904 work well?
(35-052180 for the front)

Koni Sportfahrwerk Kit 1140-3331 was installed.
To follow: that Quaife QDF26R diff.

Koni Sportfahrwerk Kit 1140-3331did not work well for the front (sagging too low).
So what brand would be an alternative? KW has a set for VW Fox without this issue?

We have a date for the diff for early next year.

Did you look at Mts/eibach springs and shock kit ? Apparently they are a sound combination without breaking the bank ! You sure you want an limited slip diff in your gearbox ? They make driving the car awful !

Awful driving? It is not a welded diff but a slightly more 'intelligent' solution.
It should avoid sending all power to the slipping wheel only.
Check this video for some explanations:

I was not aware of MTS but will look into this brand.
Hmm! They have a kit specific for VW Fox TDI, so the sagging front should be avoided by this: https://mtstechnik.com/en/menu/lowering-kits-2905.html
