Before taking my 2000 Golf TDI to the dealer’s for scheduled maintenance I removed the screwcap off the oil filter housing and marked the filter for identification. The top end of the cartridge had circular disc with a hole in the center.
After the dealer visit the filter does not have this disc. When I removed the screwcap I was looking at the zig-zag pattern at the end of the filter material. In other words, the filter is open at the top end. It seems the oil will not be passed through the filter but just go around the end.
I appreciate your comments.
