I am back in the game with the purchase of a 2015 Passat TDI stick shift. I want to set up a 12 receptacle that is not ignition controlled for a towed vehicle brake system.

Does anyone knew where I can pick up the wire, and color of wire, that feed either of the 12 volt receptacles currently in dash or center compartment and feed them with a new none ignitioned fuse? Or it easier to just install a new separately fused receptacle?

Search (here or with internet search engine like google) for '2015 VW Passat constant power outlet' and you'll find lots of info.
For tow brakes, I'd probably want an independent circuit with its own fuse.

Messing with the relay or jumpering the relay to keep power on to a circuit wouldn't be my first choice.
One post I read recently said that the heater fan was on the same circuit as the one he'd changed to 'always on', so he had to always remember to turn the fan off before leaving the car. That wouldn't work for me.

I think there are probably (unused) terminals on the fuse block that have constant 12v power?
You need trailer brakes when the car is shut off?

This link shows how to add terminals to your fuse block. The mk6 Golf and the NMS have the same box. There is a lot more room around the box in the Passat, so it should be easier than an mk6 http://www.my-gti.com/601/addition-of-extra-circuits-to-the-volkswagen-golf-jetta-passat-eos-scirocco-rabbit-fuse-box

Heres a link to my trailer wiring and brake install on my old JSW. It has a section on my brake controller with some pics. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=473330

I still have the long 10gauge wire with the correct fuse block terminal end that I removed from my JSW when I sold it back. It should reach from the fuse panel to your trailer plug. If interested let me know

It looks like post #39 of this tread answers the question.

My only change would be to reduce the fuse to a 20 amp one. Looks like VW offered a cigarette lighter option, 30 amp fuse, in some areas and fused the circuit for that option at the factory.

I will be using one receptacle for a phone charger and the other to power a towed car braking system.
