I am getting the runaround when I ask a question about my transmission.
I have no reverse and was told it is a wire or solenoid problem.
I am not able to come up with the money to get transmission replaced yet
And I noticed that it goes into limp mode after I have been driving awhile
Can I do a trams flush or can I change out filter temporarily

Search on "CoolAirVW" and "01m" He's got a few threads on diagnosing 01m issues. You can also go directly to his site -kansascitytdi.com- and look for info under his FAQs.

Transmission automatic

Sorry
That is a 2001 Jetta TDI automatic and no reverse
Just trying to at least go forward till I can come up with the money
To get trans replaced. I noticed it doesn't have the full brake pedal,
So it might be a way of putting on a manual trans which for now want to stay away from temporarily

Upgrade (or whatever you want to call changing from auto to manual transaxle) is the one sure cure for 01M troubles. CoolAirVW's posts are informative and extremely helpful to be sure, but the 01M can be problematic and expensive to repair. OTOH, the manual can be expensive to repair if abused as well.

You will need to read up and determine for yourself if you want to learn to row your own gears.

In my case, I love the manual, but I don't do stop and go driving but once in a great while. My wife on the other hand, refuses to even try to learn about the 3rd pedal. (Something bad in her history, so the issue is done.) But I love her anyway, and bought her NB with a slushbox.

Cheers,

PH
