Lol... No, it won't be.
The only way I could see it possible would to somehow build a dragster from a 4.2 TDI lump. :) But even then, unless it had awesome traction and a transmission to boot, it would struggle to beat an 8 second quarter.

I put this on FB last night, just so people know what is going on here, the engine nearest in the shot is FUBARED and the race is on Sunday:

When you have engine problems with the race car and the race is only a few days away, do you:
A) Not race
Or
B) Strip the engine out from your daily driver van and put that in the car to make the race on Sunday
A picture paints a thousands words they say...

We wont break any records until mid season, too much to sort and not enough time to get max power from this!

I think the Cruze Diesel will get somewhere soon.. Suncoast already mentioned in there article on the Cruze Diesel in Diesel Power that they are working on bulletproofing the 6spd auto trans and coming out with a upgraded torque converter.. which will make it much easier to drag race..

This is the dyno graph we managed to get the day before racing:

This was the result:

I need to learn how to drive better with these tyres on a warmer day with less headwind!

Videos's later today!!

Interesting you got only 1 tenth slower than with the nuts 1.9 8v, but over 10 mph slower. Better traction this time around? :)

Ignore the 10mph thing - for some reason my head said you had 140mph ETs last time around?! :D

1.79 0-60 time is not bad at all ! Definitely hooking up much better this year. The warmer weather will help and the track will probably be prepped better as well.

575 ft-lbs on nitrous! that's a big TQ number for our little engines. The engine is breathing good right to redline even without nitrous. nice work Ryan!

devonutopia - Actually was 0.05 seconds slower, which is not bad for ~100bhp less. We got the 60' Times down by ~0.2 seconds, which gave a big improvement on the ET. We have wider tyres and a better gearbox for that.

The best Terminal we had before was 141mph, best we had on Sunday was 132 so 9mph down. We will get it back when we have closer to 500bhp again :)

I am more pleased with the initial acceleration, which we measured with a Race Logic GPS Performance Box -
0-60mph - 3.5s
0-100mph - 6.84s
These were both on the 10.9 run.

gerico_200 - We posted it somewhere on Facebook last year, was not a pretty graph, the Nitrous make it go really weird.

Dakta - Sorted, Scott had to help me with it ;-)

andy2 - Thanks Andy, yeah its a lot better than last time, now we don't have 4th Gear wheelspin! We are hoping to get closer to 1.6 or even 1.5 would be great, but it will take a lot of practice and dialing in the car. The track was cold, it makes a big difference. At Ultimate Street Car, where we got the 10.88 it was a fully glued track and pretty warm, perfect conditions. The headwind was also bad at the weekend, but it always is at Santa Pod!

TDIsyncro - We were shocked when it did it, but the torque is also strong without NOS. This is on a completely stock BKD 16v Engine, the Ported Head we had on the race engine spooled a GTB2260VK really fast! We want 6000rpm when the Race Engine is back on there.

bhodgkiss - Stock 02M Gearbox with Quaife LSD and Shifter Forks modded. Then one of our SMF Kits with a 4 Paddle Disc. No drama up to now

We got a video up on YouTube last night for those who want to see it
http://youtu.be/6u1t6kvI16s

Someone in the crowd also filmed one of the slower runs from the start line (along with a 100bhp 1.6 GTD Caddy, which did some 17s if I remember correctly!)
