Just finished a road trip and near the end I noticed my gear indicator on the dash was completely blank displaying nothing but a blue screen with my lights on. Then noticed the trip and odometer were frozen along with the clock. I'm waiting for it to cool down to see if the temp Gauge is ok but tach and speedo are still working fine. I found one other thread of this exact problem but it was dead with no solution posted. The car is a 2004 jetta w/BEW and auto tranny. It is running fine minus these issues.
I checked the voltage and it is charging normally at 1.2 volts above battery under load and 1.4 w/o load . I checked for coolant migration and the plug on the resevior is bone dry. Fuses are all good also. I don't have a vagcom system but my obd II says only one code which is the same as it has been for a while now and is only coolant high temp.
Any ideas?
