Is there a rule, or suggested frequency about posting to this thread? Every 50k miles, or 100k miles since the last posting above 200k miles? I am at 288k miles plus and have done a fair amount of upgrades under the hood so far. Every time I peg the throttle in first gear and the tires start to break loose, I am reminded why I love my little Jetta.

Maybe someone should make a new one for those of us who are 300k, or maybe even 400k. My goal I've told my wife is to hit at least 500k, but I started at 322 so I have a head start.

I'm at 218k. But I towed it home when I picked it up. PO hadn't changed the timing belt since owning it new and it skipped a tooth. (I know, many will question but 9 teeth peeled off the belt but the belt didn't ''slip'', it just skipped the next tooth and started running poorly - no power -)
I verified that indeed it was just one tooth off timing and it was and did the job. Running great now! Just sorting the torsion value and making that car good again.
Cheers
David

Bought this 99 used about 10,000 miles ago. Very small “old car” problems that were no big deal (alternator, brakes, some dry rotted hoses)

Only issue was intermittent limp mode from sticky vanes, which was cured by flooring the car on the highway for an extended amount of time

Overall very happy. Runs and drives well and gets a consistent 47mpg around town

This happened yesterday. I decided to take a photo of it.
Question: When does 222,222 x 2 not equal 444,444?
Answer: When its miles versus kilometers! :D

422,000 miles on my 2006 Golf. Bought new and I put all the miles on myself. I replaced the camshaft early on and nothing major since. It has never been to a dealer or independent shop.
