Default Touareg 2 TDI real world MPG's

Hey All,
I have a cousin looking for a new vehicle and I am trying to persuade her towards a Touareg TDI. Is the fuel economy dead on or is there a "real world" number? My my in-laws and I both experience a quite a bit more MPG's than what was shown on the window sticker of our 05.5 and 06 Jetta TDI's

See the below Fuelly link for real world mileage on a 2010 TDI driven daily about 60 mi of 60/40 hwy/city.

The 2011 TDI should yield even better results.

Fuel Economy: 640 mile trip mountains and flat terrain 27.3 mpg 70-75 mph. The 5,800 miles I have owned the car 26.4 average mileage including town driving. I find it easy to average 22 or so in town. GREAT car.

I have a 2011 Torareg with 2,400 miles the average for the 2,400 miles highway and city driving 25.8. On a typical trip to the Sierra a round trip will be between 28.5 and 30.5. Around town if driven sensibly 20 mpg is easy to attain. The car will accelerate to between 80 and 90 mph while passing on a 2 lane road, has good perfomance. The car has 20" wheels, handles great on mountain roads, we are very satisfied.

The wife does a lot of work in the DC area, dealing with Beltway traffic, and the typical stop and go. This cycle turns in an average of around 23 mpg. On the trips home to NC and back, it gets around 27.5. Towing our 1500 lb. teardrop trailer nets around 18 mpg. That said, I have experienced 30.2 mpg on the road to NC and back, but my driving style tends to be more conservative than the wife's.

2010 Touareg, basic, silver, hitch, 38 k miles
2009 Jetta, manual, white, 85 k miles, 42 mpg
2000 NB, manual, silver, 352 k miles, 47 mpg

Our 2011 Touareg TDI with 9000 km on it has averaged 9.4 l/100km, that is 25 MPG, that is since new and includes 4500 km of trailer towing at 65 MPH, and city driving! I think that is outstanding! It is at least 10% better than our '09 Touareg TDI.

We love this vehicle!
