Try miks tdi in Lake Villa. He gets good reviews from people here. Hes also a member.
BTW not to call you out but cross posting is frowned upon here. Others here wouldn't have been as civilized.

Dupage Auto Werks?

What do you need done to your 1983 Quantum TD? Lots of places can do lots of things.

I think I need the injection pump messed with? Or a vacuum leak found...

It will start and run but then will die.

Well if it's a 1982 you should really replace all the vacuum lines anyway, I'd say. Our 2000 NB is on the verge of needing that done already.

As far as the IP, you're best off sending it to a shop what does proper work on them. There's a Bosch-certified shop up near Portage that can repair them.

But it sounds like what you really need is some proper diagnosis.

I can vouch for both of these guys they are great and know these cars inside out. Which ever one you chose you will make you TDI run for a long time and and the lowest cost out there. Just make sure you give them call ahead because they are busy (like 6 cars) waiting for work.
