Badyears recall on Canadian VWs?

I just went in for my 15,000 km oil change today, and the dealer informed me that my BadYear tires were anormally worn.

That said, he told me that many people were having the same problems and that VW would replace my tires for free as soon as it is approved by Badyear. He made me sign a document stating the abnormal worn.

Is there an unofficial recall on these tires?

Yes, VW and Goodyear have an agreement to replace defective tires on our vehicles. My local dealer took the manufacturing numbers off each tire, tread measurments & air pressure to complete his paperwork for Goodyear replacements. It should take about a week for new tires to arrive... It's coincidental that Goodyear and Firestone are both experiencing "problems", but GYear has downplayed their wear problems since it doesnt involve a true safety issue, or does it??
