Hey folks,

Are there any major shopping areas in the vicinity of the fest? Big malls, outlets, etc?

Several normal malls even closer, Kenwood mall is south of Mason down 71

Tri-County mall is southwest off 275 at 747

LOTS of smaller shops, restaraunts, etc are scattered all over Mason, its a suprisingly large and well developed area (yes even Ohio is developed)

If anyone has anything specific let me know, I have lived in the area for over 30 years, if it exists I probably know where it is.

This place is amazing. It has every type of food you could ever imagine. Ive been once and it took about 3 hours to wander though and we even had a list...

Good call on Jungle Jims, you could spend a day there and not find everything and not even know what you just bought.

Just hop on I-275. It's 84 miles around the whole thing, and it crosses 3 states in the process.
I don't have time to make it for the fest, but you'll see me cruising east across the north side of 275 as I have to get to 71 South once I hit the beltway. I'll be staying across the river in Kentucky again.

I just wonder why there seemed to be very little discussion of this sort in 2006, given that there was a large mall with NO sales tax a reasonable distance away.

Initially the idea was to make this a "more family friendly" TDIFest ... and perhaps that's the reason outside activities like shopping, a Road Rally (timed drive) to a barbecue and country air show, a Saturday night movie night and the hotel location withing 'walking distance' of the Beach Waterpark and Kings Island Theme Park were selected. By the way, Kings Islands has impressive nightly fireworks, but nothing like the ones that will happen down at the Riverfest in downtown Cincinnati on August 31st ... 9:05PM. (get their early if you are going as 500,000 show up!)

Anyway ... point being that "shopping" was mentioned because the some of us are married to those who don't enjoy sticking their heads under the hood of a TDI -- I know ... its hard to imagine. ;)

Who was around for this 5 years ago???
