Normal to still fuel with solenoid wire off?

Doing a compression check and hinged the injector fuel lines up a little so I can get the compression tester hooked up.

While cranking engine over and the shutoff solenoid wire disconnected, I'm still getting fuel squirting out the fuel lines.

I didn't think any fuel was suppose to pass....

Yup, gotta disconnect the IP entirely (big black connector) to be entirely safe when doing a compression test.

Resolved my issue I was trying to fix.

As everyone stated, this wasn't the problem and is normal.

Thanks for the help.

Could a fuse be pulled that controls the ECU??
Might be easier and safer then moving old insulated wires that might crack.
Maybe relay 109. Also good time to check the condition of the contacts inside it.
Fuse 10, 29, 32, 34, and 43 are listed to 'engine'

That would certainly work too.

For me personally I'm more comfortable mechanically pulling a connector apart that guarantees the pump is dead, as opposed to hoping I've gotten every single fuse in the "engine" category. I use it as an opportunity to spray in a little DeOxit while I am at it.
