I bought the vcds for my 2012 Jetta tdi. I traded that car in on a 2013 passat tdi. I haven't tried yet, but can I use it still on my passat? Didn't know if it locked in on the vin and I would have to purchase something else? Thanks. Lee

Simple answer is Yes! VCDS will work on any VW auto group vehicle from the mid 1980s to the latest 2013 and up cars. It will work perfectly on your new Passat. However, for 2013 and newer cars Ross-Tech recommends that you download and use the latest Beta version (12.10.6.2, IIRC). There have been some minor changes in the way some control modules communicate, the latest version always knows how to communicate with the latest cars.
